Dog germs include risk of MRSA infection June 24

MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infections between dogs and their owners are on the increase according to a review of pet-related human health problems published June 21, 2009 in The Lancet Infectious Diseases.  Severe infections (MRSA as well as other germs) from cat and dog bites occur in about 20% of all bite injuries.  Pet owners are often unaware of of the pathogens that their dogs can transmit.
